About DesignPeptide
DesignPeptide is an independent reference site about the chemistry of research peptides. It explains how they are designed, synthesised, purified and tested. It also explains how to read the certificate of analysis (COA) that documents a batch. The main guide is a good place to begin.
The Research Desk
Pages are written by the DesignPeptide Research Desk, a small independent editorial group. The pages draw on primary literature and regulatory documents where these are available. Examples include Merrifield's 1963 paper on solid-phase peptide synthesis (bibliographic record) and the FDA's 2021 guidance on certain highly purified synthetic peptides (guidance text). Sources are linked so that readers can verify them. Where no primary source is available, general background is identified as such.
Scope and standards
The site covers chemistry and analytical science only. Two examples are HPLC purity versus peptide content and impurities in synthetic peptides.
DesignPeptide gives no advice on the uses, amounts or administration of any peptide. Findings from studies and regulators are attributed to their source. They are described within the scope their authors stated. For example, the FDA's 2021 impurity thresholds apply to a named group of products. They are not presented as a general rule for all peptides.
On this site, a COA is described as an analytical record. It is not presented as evidence that a material is suitable for any purpose.
Corrections
Errors can be reported to the Research Desk at the address given under Contact below (info@zvezdaff.com). Please include the page address and a short description of the problem. Where possible, include a supporting source. Confirmed errors are corrected, and substantive changes are dated on the page.
Affiliate disclosure
Some pages carry paid links to Purita, a research-use-only supplier. DesignPeptide may earn a commission on purchases made through those links. A link is not an endorsement. It is also not a statement about the quality of any product. Affiliate arrangements are disclosed on the pages where links appear. Full details are in the affiliate disclosure.
Contact
Corrections and other enquiries can be sent to the DesignPeptide Research Desk at info@zvezdaff.com. Messages about factual errors are given priority, and a supporting source helps the Research Desk check a report quickly.
